Summer Fun

Post by mbacon » Mon Aug 21, 2006 8:46 pm

Haven't been to Ocotillo in about 12 years, spending most of our time in Glamis/Gordons, however my partner and I just bought two new Polaris Ranger XP's and decided we had to try them out on a day trip. Ocotillo is a lot closer so we tried it out. Had a lot of fun, even with the temp at 106, but found a lot of the real fun areas I remembered from my youth being closed. Can't wait to try the Rangers in the dunes!

Nice pic!

The BBCode was disabled in your post so the pic wasn't showing. I fixed in this post, but if you want pics to show you need to fix it in your Profile. Two mouse wheel scrolls down under Preferences you will find Always allow BBCode: make sure it says YES.

Pretty nice pic!
I've never been to OW, that's more sand than I ever thought was there.
Maybe one of these days, we'll make a run out there.

Cool Rangers BTW

L O L guess your right, they are fun to run through at high speed. We will be going out there toward the end of this month and looking forward to it...even if it is a little hot yet. 8)

I think it's around 80,000 sq acres...been going there for 20 years and haven't poked my nose into every corner yet. It isn't all rocks, there are dirt roads... hills... washes... a very nice mixture.
I have some friends with jeeps, I kid them...if they want to see what the top of the hill looks like, i can give them a ride up in the rail LOL They smile, but it is a fun area. You can be near the BOOM Boxes  or you can get away from the crowd.
Guess if i had a 500 horsepower rail i might luv Glamis more, instead i have a VW rail which helped me learn to be a better driver versus point n shoot.

Hey there Glenn! Up until last winter it had been well over 20 years since I had been at Ocotillo Wells. My son and I took the two wheelers out 5 times and had fantastic trips...some pretty cool areas to explore and track on the GPS (needed to keep track of our mileage due to my sons KX80 was only good for about 32 miles)

Put it on your "to do" list!
