STAND WITH ASA THIS GIVING TUESDAY

Giving Tuesday

We’re asking our sand community to stand with the ASA today, Giving Tuesday, to help safeguard our dune access. New proposals for solar and green energy development threaten our sport. This is the right time to donate and help!

For 25 years, the American Sand Association has fought to keep our dunes open, safe, and accessible for families, longtime duners, and the next generation of riders.

And now, more than ever, that work matters.

Across the Southwest, large-scale solar and “green energy” development proposals are targeting lands directly adjacent to — and in some cases overlapping — long-established sand recreation areas. These projects may be renewable in purpose, but they can permanently reshape dune terrain, block access routes, eliminate staging space, threaten wildlife corridors, and undermine decades of approved recreation planning.

Can you imagine solar panels and power transmission lines cutting through our dunes? How about giant battery installations like this one? One large bank of batteries is a 96,000-pound load on that truck/trailer.

ASA has been and will be at the table when those plans emerge.

We monitor proposals, demand transparency, push agencies to follow existing OHV management frameworks, and ensure decision-makers understand that dunes are not just empty space — they’re cultural, historical, recreational, and economic engines treasured by thousands of families.

From legal action and environmental science to policy oversight, education, and rider safety programs, your support keeps ASA in the fight.

If the dunes have given you memories — that first ride at sunrise, a Thanksgiving week at Glamis, teaching your kids to crest safely, or the magic of a quiet night under the stars — we ask you to help protect that legacy today.
