I read the book before the two different movies came out. The second one was much better than the first! There was a whole trilogy of the DUNE books. Six, I think, with the son finishing writing them after the father passed on.

I know that you're supposed to go to the middle of the tire, but for off road can't you just use the inside of the bead on the rim? Not a fix, but if you have broken engine mounting points and a broken nose cone, borrow some tie downs(any type) and hang the motor from the frame. Then all you need is a tow! It works better than going to get a trailer 90% of the time.
