Use a carbide blade in a skill saw to cut the aluminum plate, then use a hand file to deburr the edges.

I have seen disc that are made to grind aluminum but have never used them.

Yup, the skill saw and a carbide blade works well. Use at least .090" or .120" depending on how many support tabs your frame has.

I think a stroker should last as long as a non stroker. The killer of VW engines is high compression high RPM and rod ratio and of course heat.

I would build a 2276 82mmx94mm with a 110 cam, the compression set to about 7 to 1 and use 5.5" rods. Dont use the 92mm pistons.

Its good to hear you got the car back to camp ok.

That same pin came out on my sons buggy, by the next trip we welded tabs near the pin and then bolted a piece of angle iron on the tab blocking the pin so it couldnt back out again.

Did you check to see if the engine is grounded to the frame well? Make sure everything is tight inside the distributor and install a new coil.

My buggy has run the Compufire module and a Bosch blue coil wired straight 12 volts, no resistor for the last eight years with no problems. My second car is the same and four years with no problems.

A buddy of mine used air hose for the oil cooler, it was ok the first season, but, the second season the hose came apart on the inside and the flakes plugged the oil passages, needless to say his engine spun the bearings on the crank..

I have seen mid engine swing axle cars with eight to ten inches of total travel, they used the wider housings, and longer shocks.

Why are some listed as 3 rib or 5 rib ??
The 002 has a few different cases, one has three ribs on the outside of the case, the other has five. The 091 has six ribs.

The better of the two bus tranny's is the 091 the other is 002.

You cant use these tranny's in a mid engine car because the ring gears can not be swapped, it may be best for you to stick with the swing tranny because that is how your frame is set up.

Well, it looks like I will be cleaning the slime tire sealant out of my tires this weekend. :(

I did order the dune sport 14.50 tires for my new beadlock wheels. I should have them Friday.

How is it done, beadlocks

Today at the ssss I picked up some beadlock wheels that a friend brought for me.
Is a sealant needed for the tire bead in the lockring area? Do I need to use a liquid tire sealant like slime?

Has anyone painted the inside of the wheel to keep it from corroding?
