Topic re-visit

Observations from 2006 Thanksgiving week. While there certainly are more vendors and the new "Vendors Row" at Glamis Flats is very nice, very few are open other than Thursday-Sunday. Part of my personal "dune experience" is a run up to Vendor's Row for breakfast. We tried Tuesday and Wednesday. On T...

Just the opposite here - I didn't see anybody down in the south dunes with helmets on in Rhinos. I did see one bozo pull a Rhino out of his trailer and then try to gas it and make a quick turn. It ended up tipped over on it's side.  So much for the Glamis is for crazies and Buttercup i...

Rhinos and Helmets

I see in the Sticky that helmets are not required to drive a rhino at the dunes.

However, last weekend I noticed that most people driving their Rhino at the dunes had helmets on. (passengers too)

Way to go people!

When we camp in a crowded wash my dog is on a tether, probably 20-feet. When we camp away from people, I let her roam. She is much happier roaming. 6-feet may not give her enough room to find a comfortable place to lay down. I'll be constantly moving her brick. It seems like the law is being mis-app...

I love the 110,000 acre number.

It is my understanding that the dunes cover 89,000 acres, minus 49,000 = 40,000 open. The other 70,000 open acres are not covered by sand, it's hard to count that in the useable area.

Dogs on Leash - fine?

Does anyone know the fine for not having your dog on a leash? In the lastest ASA newsletter it mentions having to keep your dog on a six-foot or smaller leash. No doubt the LEOs will be baiting dogs while they search camp-to-camp for passes...probably walk around blowing a dog-whistle to see if any ...

I have had bad luck with the SuperChips tuner. I put the High-Perf program in, but now the unit gets a communication error and I can't get it out. I have had numerous conversations with SuperChips and Ford Dealers, no luck.

I will never use a tuner again, only extern units that can be removed.

Glenn, any feedback on the vendor fee issue? I was pleasantly surprised to see some vendors still at the dunes last weekend. Even a couple food vendors.

I still contend that the increased fees diminish the user experience.

Thank you for continuing to keep this on the agenda.

Vendor fees diminishing visitor experience

It is my understanding that fee are paid to enhance the visitor experience. However, the $60/day vendor fee is driving off vendors. Some of us like to go out-to-breakfast/lunch/dinner. Since the start of the increased fees, the number of food vendors has dropped off significantly. And once again, wh...

I would like to request that some of the Fee money be spent on filling in the hole when you turn off highway 78 onto Wash Road. It is a safety hazard as vehicles can not clear the intersection quickly without potential damage.

Dually in the sand

This is a question for pickup truck owners with 4 rear wheels. In the sand do you air down? Does it help? Which tires do you air down, outside, inside, all 6?

I'm asking about hauler your trailer through the softer sand, not cruising to Olds.

Thanks for your help.
