Re: Radar Detector

They do work if the officer is leaving his radar on. The CHP in cars do this quite a bit. The new point and shoot lasers are tougher. I think if spotted your car first with the laser you're hosed. But if you got some stray signals from another car you may have time to slow down.

Re: Radar Detector

I thought radar detectors are legal in California, but it is illegal to stick anything, suction cup, to your windshield. Which is pretty stupid if you see all the GPS's on people's windshields.

Re: I'm getting kicked out of our campground

Is there something that I can carry in my truck to "educate" these ignora.., I'm sorry, poorly trained rangers? That map states Tortoise area. If I showed him that, he'd probably put up red stakes everywhere. I know the official map shows it as a fee area, but he was too stup.., I'm sorry, po...

Re: some BLM observations over the weekend

This last weekend was a bummer for us. We camp off of Ted Kipf Road and after setting up camp, we were told by and El Centrol BLM guy CW Scott to move it. We told him we've camping here for 15 years. He got upset, not crazy upset, but he was a jerk. It sounds like he was wrong, though, through anoth...

Re: I'm getting kicked out of our campground

I am one of the guys that got kicked out of our campsite on Friday, February 13th. Everyone has the location correct, about 100 yards east of Ted Kipf at about wash 4. We had just set up camp and Ranger C.W. Scott approached us. We asked how he was and the first thing out of his mouth was, "I wish I...

Now, now. Just asking. Let's not get all crazy. I surely don't need a felony on my record. BTW, in my camp, it would definitely NOT be the civilians who would try this prank and it is usually NOT the civilians I have to drive to the Brawley Emergency room because of some crash for being crazy. Maybe...

In my opinion, the same people who bash the side by sides are the one's that call jet skiers "Lake Lice." I have jet skis but know how to use them. I have seen young people on jet skis that have no business on them. I have also seen nimrods in their $100k+ boats and these stuck up people are the one...

Camping East of the Tracks

Has anyone been out recently to the east side of the tracks? We used to camp about 1/2 mile down and 100 yards east of TedKipf road. If anyone has been down TedKipf road lately I'd sure like to know as we might start going out to Glamis again, it's been a few years now, if we can camp in our old spo...

We are already planning a trip. I was told to bring shovels because of the huge berm now blocking our favorite camping site. The kids love it because they can ride the hard pack.

I think you're right. People who throw their trash on the ground won't give a $hit.
