Re: Superstition on October 22nd thru the 27th

Glenn, We are actually going to be south of Ocatillo and north of Plaster City. It is west of El Centro and just before you go into the mountains going west I used to camp out at Glamis or Buttercup, but with the kids riding small bikes, i found they have more fun on the hard dirt as the small engin...

Re: Where to take my VW buggy to get serviced in San Diego?

I ended up taking it to Buggy Works in Santee on the recommendations of some locals. I did the preseason tune up and learned a lot about my new buggy. Im very excited to get out there and hit the sand. Thanks for the replies.

Motorhome parking at Gordons?

We are going out to Gordons March 7th. Are there any hard packed areas or cement pads to park a 35' motorhome thats pulling a 16' 2 axle trailer? I ask this because I am worried about getting stuck in the sand. I got this rig stuck in the dirt at Ocatillo on a slight up hill. The wheels just would n...

GPS coordinates in Gordons Well

Anybody have any interesting coordinates or any important spots we may want to visit while in Gordons. I usually camp at Glamis or Superstition. This is only the second trip to Gordons, any help with coordinates in the south dunes would be great. Also, anyone have any coordinates or tips on finding ...

Is the 78 from Ocatillo to Ramona better on my tranny

My motorhome can make it out to Glamis pulling a trailer from San Diego but in order to get home I have a friend pull the trailer back because my tranny can not take the grade right before In-Ko-Pa exit. I was told that the 78 from Ocatillo up thru Ramona does have a transmission "friendly" grade. M...

Re: Is Gecko road already full?

I will be leaving to Glamis early tommorow morning to drop my rig. My friend who arrived the other day saved me a spot and said it is packed more than he has seen in any year past. Just wanted to relay that info to everyone else.

Fishing in the canal at glamis or gordons

4 easters ago i saw 100's of 9 inch catfish in the glamis canal. Somebody left a hook tied to one of the ladders and caught one so I released it. Anyone ever catch fish in the canal by gecko road and if so what kind? Is it legal to fish there with a cali fishing license? How about the canal at Gordo...

Crossing to the washes from Ted Kipf

I read and printed out the article on the washes. I found out that the cross over point is about 6.6 miles from the Glamis Beach Store. Then I went to mapslive and found a picture of a possible crossover point. The next step is to find out if any one has used it lately and if a 35 foot motorhome and...
