Front spindle bearing size? Help...

Post by quad1100 »

I need to replace the front wheel bearings on my sandrail. I have a set of 15x4 Douglas Star's mounted on spindles. Does anyone know what type of bearing these wheels take, size, PN, anything would help. Last resort, I take it to the parts store and see if they can match it.

Thanks

Mark

If you have VW spindles any sandrail shop should be able to fix you up, but you need a sealled bearing so I doubt your local auto parts store would have it. In So. Cal. try Kar-Tek, FunRunner, or Prowlers. 8) :)

Well right now there are tapered bearings in there, do you know if I can switch over to the sealed bearings by taking the races out? Or do I have an order set?

Just to give all of you that have helped me out with this a little more info, Roger called the wheels I have "combo bearing" type. They use 2 different sizes of tapered bearings and races with a dust seal. He said it was a heavy-duty version of this type of wheel. I will post the bearing numbers when I confirm them.
