Proposed Revisions to Oceano Dunes SVRA Safety Regulations

Post by tomjeeps2 » Sat Jul 04, 2009 9:23 am

Proposed Regulations

http://ohv.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=25980

The California State Parks Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division is proposing revisions to the safety regulations for Oceano Dunes SVRA. The current regulation requires a whip and flag for non-street legal vehicles. These proposed revisions would require a whip and flag for all vehicles in the dunes. This requirement would be consistent with the regulations for Dumont Dunes and Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Areas, which are popular areas managed by the Bureau of Land Management. The proposed revisions would also prohibit specified vehicle operations that are unsafe but do not rise to the level of reckless operation or child endangerment.

Although most people want less government intrusion (eg: Laws), this makes sense to me. Should be consistant with all vehicles in the dunes. Last year I almost collided with a Land Rover that did not have a whip.

Yeah well yes you would think things like whips would be "DUH" yes a must have, but I'm just a tad concerned about what they mean by "reckless" because it's very open to interpretation and "reckless driving" is a very serious offense...TJ :|

This is one of the rare times I can agree with TJ.
READ BEYOND the whip requirements and you will read some age requirements for vehicle operation, both as a passenger and driver.
