05 DS650 Racer - SOLD (Thanks ASA!)

Post by RichB »

Only used on 5-6 dune trips (15 hours ride time). We've purchased a buggy so my quad needs to find a new home. Anyone looking for the absolute best in quad duning comfort this is the quad to have, the egonomics, the suspension/ride is awesome far far exceeding any other quad I've owned/rode (Z400s, 660 and 700 raptors, banshees etc). You'll be out duning while everyone else is complaining about the dunes being too rough to ride.

Also, for those not fully versed in DS 650 stuff the "racer" version has the exact same engine as the "baja" version. The baja is 25ish lbs heavier than the racer so a lot of folks prefer the racer for duning. These bikes are built super tough (steel braided brake lines, 530 chain etc). It's been the most fire-and-forget bike I've owned in 20+ years, runs like a top with the airbox fully closed up so you'll only have to clean the air filter once or twice a year (for dune purposes).

This bike is super clean and comes with $800+ in extra aftermarket goodies:

Twist Throttle
Full set of sand tires/rims; skat rears and sand star fronts on Douglas rims
2 K&N filters w/outwears
Performance Exhaust End Cap
Scott's Stainless oil Filter
Billet Gas Cap

Price Lowered......$5,000

Yeah, for a quad it's absolutely awesome in the sand. Like I said above we have a buggy now and also if the truth is to be told I'm really a 2-wheel guy at heart.

The quad is still for sale. (I sat on it for 2 weeks awaiting the arranged day of delivery to the buyer and the day prior when I call he says he's decided to go another route).

Craig and his brother played dirty pool with me plain and simple. It's not a matter of "wanting what you want", if you're not sure what you want you don't make a deal with someone. We had a date, a price, and a location for the sale. I believe these guys were playing me all along.

I held this bike for him and lost 2 critical sale weeks in the local paper because "he was going to be in Indiana". Part of the deal was that if he changed his mind after a day or 2 he'd give me a courtesy call; nobody picked up the phone or the keyboard and told me they were backing out. I called them (a day after I was supposed to have been called) and then got a big pause on the phone and the one brother acted like he didn't know who I was for a few seconds.

The whole deal between those 2 brothers was squirrely; I'm convinced their plan was to hold me unless they found something else and/or to have the one brother bail out at the last minute (which he did) so Craig could jump in (which he did) and try to get me to bring the bike down to Glamis next weekend, at which point Craig would try to low-ball me down from the originally agreed price (speculation).

Again, not your fault but these guys really did me wrong and if they were my friends I'd watch my back around them.

Wow sorry you feel you were wronged but that does not sound like Craig. I have delt with him on a few things and just bought his F-350 Crew cab never feeling like he was trying to stick me or grind me for more money.

Craig may be a good guy but I had a deal with his brother and next thing I know things started getting blurred between the two of them ending up with Craig.......I'm still scratching my head over what happened. If they can't understand why I'd #1 be upset and #2 not want to deal with either of them after the round-d-round we did then I guess we'll just have to leave it at that. The last explanation I heard was that "you had it advertised all over the place" the inference being that justifies going against a man's word. What's funny is the only place it's advertised is here and Glamis Dunes.com, and the ad on Glamis Dunes.com refers everyone to this specific thread for the details (which clearly stated you had a buyer for me so most folks would naturally not contact me after reading that.

It's water under the bridge at this point. The DS goes in the local paper this Friday, someone will buy it and have a practically showroom mint DS with almost $1,000 in upgrades for $5k.

Thank you Jim and Julie, enjoy the new addition to the garage (or trailer) :D If you really want to be mean to people let your friends take it for a ride (especially on a tore up sand day) then they'll be bit by the bug and have to go get one too. :D
