Budget Cars

Post by LonGJohnson »

I'm sure there is plenty of "budget cars" out there the great thing I see what SandTrix is doing is you can get a Water cooloed 4 seat 170hp complete car for under the 20k mark.

I price out an Explorer and without powertrain and wiring it was 13k for a complete roller, seats, radiator everything except engine, tranny and wiring. If you did an 091 race and a budget Ecotec you could have 18 inches of travel with coil over and water cooled for less tha 20k.

Only thing is it is still a beam, even though it is heavily modified. The only reason I haven't ordered it is I would like to drive one first.

They say they can get 18" out of a beam?

I say that is almost impossible, I'd want to be there when they measure  ...

Chris Begley had a Baja featured in Sand Sports [Feb/March 2003] here were his spec's:

11" wider front beam
Custom Chromoly trailing arms [4 " wider] and
5 3/4 inch longer than stock link pin style arms...
This gave him a front track 19" wider than stock.
With King shocks with a 12" Stroke, it still could "Only"
get 16 inches of front wheel travel...

I say only because, 16" out of this highly modified beam is a lot...

If they do get 18" of travel, there are some unbelievable torque on some of those parts...

I mis quoted, sorry!

http://www.chenowth.com/EXP4.html

Here is there site, they don't quote the front travel. Only that they raised the side rails for increased travel and tie rod clearance, They quote 17" rear travel with 3x3 arms and coil overs.

Im almost finished with my new explorer. :P

If anyone wants to take a ride, let me know i would be willing to give you a test ride. 951-255-7237

I have a feild right behind the house. Im out in Perris,ca.

I just had my buddy ron from cc put on my power steering. He's going to order the line and ill be rolling next weekend/ with PS. 8)

I drove it without the power steering and its a little tough. However Im comparing it to my old 100" 2 steater.
It handles the bumps pretty good, and it is a heavy, solid car.

Thats the reason i decided to go turbo, :D

Budget sandcars

Post by FREEFLYPRI »

RFR motorsports in Phoenix is offering is 29,000 car that you can get 5.3 vortec v8 and long travel all around. Sounds like a no brainer to me. There's my 2 cents.
DO OR DONT DO...THERE IS NO TRY!
