BLM Schedules Open House in Moreno Valley to Review OHV Grant Proposals

In an effort to provide the public an opportunity to review and comment on off-highway vehicle grant proposals that will be submitted to the California State Parks, Off Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division for fiscal year 2005, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has scheduled an open house on Tuesday, April 13 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the BLM District Office in Moreno Valley, located at 22835 Calle San Juan De Los Lagos in Moreno Valley.

Jim Keeler, the BLM California Statewide Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Coordinator, and staff from BLM offices will present an overview of grant proposals for BLM's California Desert District and be available to answer questions. Staff from BLM's Yuma District Office also are scheduled to participate in the open house.

BLM applies for grants from the California Department of Parks and Recreation's Off Highway Vehicle Division each year to help fund and coordinate its off-highway vehicle (OHV) program. The grants support OHV management activities such as law enforcement, resource protection, planning and monitoring, visitor services, and maintenance on BLM and National Forest lands throughout the state.

It went well overall, most of the grants are the same as last year, Glamis's Law Enforcement grant has a most of the same things as last year, it is broken down differently. The grant is for about 850,000 and wants the BLM and not Imp. county to hire the outside L.E. 8)
