Official Rules of the I.S.D.R.A

Post by OBSESSED »

OFFICAL Rules and Regulations For the I.S.D.R.A. [International Stinkbug Drag Racing Association]

#I- The Track
A)-Any surface will do we prefer sand or another gravel type desert sitting.
B)-Must have an inner circle [Starting Line] not less then 18 inches or more then 24 inches. Must be as close to 360 degrees round as possible.
C)-Outer circle [Finish line] must be Not less then six feet [for a sanction event] or more then 10 feet. Tracks larger then 10 feet will not be sanctioned and records may be submitted but will not count for speed records.

#II-The Bugs
A)-Stinkbugs may only be modified in a manor that will not harm their reproductively. [No Neutering-the little critters get upset if you do this]
Modified SB’s may be entered into any race as long as you announce, the modification.
B)-Roaches, crickets, beetles, grasshoppers, locus, will not be allowed to compete even if modified to resemble a SB.
C)-SB’s gathered at any location inside the USA, [example: SB’s found in your garden in Pacoima may compete against SB’s found at Glamis]. You must however announce where your SB was captured and trained.
SB’s found outside of the USA may not compete under any circumstance [in a sanction event] unless you get a waiver from the governing body. If you are found to be in violation of this rule, you will be banned from SB competitions for a one week period. Third violation in a Season will result in you being banned for remainder of year. Violation’s in back to back years will result in a lifetime ban.

#III-The Race
A)-You may have timed or un-timed events. However only Timed Events will be eligible and considered, for the Race for the Silica Championship.
B)-Betting is allowed only if all the SB handlers agree that the race is a legal wager.
C)-Modified and HC Racing will be allowed. The ISDRA is an equal opportunity racing association. White SB’s will be allowed to compete, however, they will not be allowed to mingle with the other SB’s [the black ones just do not like the littler white ones]. If you find a brown or yellow or even a red SB, you may enter them into a race, however, usually brown ones need a little more prompting for before 11am racing. They however excel at midnight runs.
D)-Enticing and prompting your SB to go faster and further is allowed, however, you can not deter your fellow competitor’s SB by:
Throwing, stepping, crushing, spraying any foreign substance at his/her SB.
E)-Numbers for identification purposes only may be added with out any penalty.

So pull up a chair and watch your fellow handler’s prompt their little SB’s to run for the roses. The I.S.D.R.A is not responsible for any smell left behind in your camp.

Thank You, so go out and enjoy the racing action!
We encourage safe SB racing and you should never Drink While Racing!
Drinking while watching a SB race is 100% OK, and encouraged.

Steve Brooks
President of the I.S.D.R.A

Disclaimer
SB Drag racing should only be used as a means to enjoy the time between dune rides or honey-doo’s. Do not attempt to SB race alone. SB Drag racing is preferred to be done by three or more SB’s.
Race responsibly, do not let underage racers race alone. An out of control SB could wreck havoc on a whole camp area. Please be careful and always wear protective gear when SB racing.

No Flags are not required but if you want to add one to yours it does not break any above rules.

I would like to find the fastest SB at Dumont and then pit him/her/it against the fastest at Glamis. Maybe break the Glamis dunes into North South and Closed. It is my guess that SB's living in the closed areas, will be slower then their brethren living the wild life in the open area.

Maybe we should hold the finals at Big Dune Amaragosa and race against the Albino Scarab Beetle. With a name like Scarab it must be fast...

The Scarab's are fast, they must be, for they are always hiding when the envirorats come to count them...

My next trip to Glamis, I will take pictures and post the first race of the season in the "Run For the Silica Championship"

Good luck fellow racers, and gentlemen, prod your Stinkbugs!

Steve

Is it any coincidence my first and last initials are SB?

There will be a sanctioned SB race down at Cement Flats Friday and Saturday nights. Saturday will be the finals.
Bring by your racer and we'll have some fun!

Look for my rig and it'll have a American Flag with a checkered flag on a 25' pole... between trailer and MH...

Gentleman, start your stinkbugs;

The I.S.D.R.A. starts racing this weekend!!

The pre race dance some of the 9 racers did was most educational:

The Track:

In the middle of a race:

The winner is # 15 Cathy had this bug in this race:

So if you are down at Cement Flats in the next few weeks, and happen upon a tired numbered SB Racer, do not worry, no SB was harmed during any part of the race activities. Also we let all the SB's go back to nature when we were done.

Sactioned Racing has been suspended until December. However, you may train your SB's and have your own races...

Does anyone know why they are called Stink Bugs?

Because when you accidentally (or not) squish one, they STINK!

BTW, wash stinkbugs are slower than dune stinkbugs. How do I know this? Well, lets just say the ones in the dunes are better at getting out of the way of an oncoming vehicle than the ones around camp. Maybe the camp SBs are overfed!

I don't think I've seen so many SBs before. There were literally hundreds out every evening last weekend. Was there a convention or something?

There I am sitting in my camp last weekend at Cement Flats, (Nov. 11 & 12 ), and I nearly get blown out of my chair by SB #3. Man, you guys and the Stink Bug Races really need to educate your drivers, (stink bugs )
on camp etiquette. We wouldn't want to have any unwary bystanders injured by reckless driving.

In all seriousness though I was sitting in camp and had already seen a few stink bugs passing through. Then a short while later, here comes a stink bug with a #3 stuck on his back. Got a good laugh out of that. Short time later I saw 'Obsessed" riding through the camp area.

Happy Duning and have a great and safe Thanksgiving

Im not happy with the direction the ISDRA has taken.
The time has come to recognize the little stinker for what it is...
A Glorified Cockroach

Who's in favor of starting a New Racing Association w/ Kangaroo Mice?

The Mice are tired of being left out...and will not tolerate the ISDRA seperatists mindsets :x

The first time I numbered them was a few years ago....
In a land called Glamis...
After a long weekend of duning/drinking/racing the SB's I headed home...
The chick that was out with me that weekend, thought I had lost my mind [already gone]... When out of the blue, on the ride on the 78, I started to laugh uncontrolled.
"Wats wrong-wats wrong?" she wanted to know "What is so funny?"
I responded, through my tears of laughter:
"I just realized, someone will come upon one of those little bugs and wonder if there is an environmental study of the bugs. They will think, they just found a "Tagged" stinkbug..."
