Daytona 500 Predictions

Post by GlamisLovingFool »

So who is your driver for the "Great American Race"?

I pick Tony Stewart. The Bud Shootout was only just the beginning.

I think Johnson will win- I dont want him to. Why cant a Toyota team have a black colored Camry with gold trim, sheepskin seat covers and hubcaps? Now thats a Toyotal STOCK car. As a note I pray that Junior gets out of DEI and goes to RCR-That would be awsome to see "3" back in action. Probably wont happen, but I can hope.

[ OK, now I'll try to be a funny man! ]

Let me post it now, once and for all, boys!!!

Dale Jr, will take that #8 to the front of the pack by mile 300, lead the last lap, and run it like that allll long season long to take the Cup!

Goooooo #8!!! \:D/

Man, I love NASCAR season!

chuxdad, why do you want to see Jr on the RCR team? You think he's not getting the love at DEI? :?

You are MUCH funnier than me, lets get that straight right now
"Treat you like the red headed stepchild that you are" Now where did I hear that before????

Dont get me wrong, i'm a JR fan. I just think he would be a better fit at RCR and not worry about team ownership now. He's good, he isnt his father, he probably will never live up to the expectations of us. Hes a great marketing device for any team. $$$ talks. He really hasn't done that much in his career at DEI. DEI is a second rate team. Childress is the kind of owner that will fill the void in his life, heck he already said he is like a father to him. The point is, let him drive the car, not worry about suppliers, sponsorships and family politics. Go out and win some championships, Dale!!!

I can see you point, JR does spend a lot time on items that Johnson probably never even thinks about. :(

A little off topic, but I was watching CARS for the millionth time due to my kids and I was reminded who the main characters were modeled after.

Lightning.......anyone of the new, hungry, "youngsters".
The King.........Um....The King.
Chic........Has to be Dale Earnhardt. Total asshat, my good buddy. Obviuosly Chic would be him before he won all those Daytona 500s and championships.

Time to break this out again...
I want to be a race car passenger: just a guy who bugs the driver. "Say man, can I turn on the radio? You should slow down. Why do we gotta keep going in circles? Can I put my feet out the window? Man, you really like Tide..."

waltrip can win only with jet fuel added to his fuel, oh wait, he already did that... 100k fine for his crew chief i think and 100 points docked from his driver points, plus impounded car

i dont think it will be waltrip because of that, i would say our boy jimmie johnson, have to love the cajon kid who got his start racing honda pilots and doing baja
if you want to be in my next helmet cam video, i'll have to point the camera backwards...

You asked for it, you got it. Toyota.

Mikey needs to make some heads roll on this one. What idiot(s) cheats on the first day out? Toyota and the sponsors got to be wondering if they made the right choices.

What about the cars with the "Holes" drilled in the wheel wells and then they say the duct tape must of blew off.
Why were the holes there in the first place??
NASCAR needs to get alot stiffer on the penalties, cheating is cheating, if you get caught your done for the season, that would get some attention.
The cheating, the feuds, the "dirty tactics" out on the track has soured Me on the whole NASCAR thing, as well as many, many, many other fans.
I don't have youngsters anymore, but I would not like them to view the helmets being slamed, the drivers pounding on there cars, the overall "childish behavior" of these highly paid babies.
Yes it happens in most sports, thats why I don't watch Much sports on T V anymore.

Look. I may have a little different perspective. I can tell you right now that the most innovative people in the world don't work for Lockheed Martin or General Dynamics. No you will find them in the garages and shops of race car facilities.

Consider this. For every rule that is in that rule book, there are at least ten guys coming at that rule from ten different angles trying to make it work to their advantage. The new COT cars will eliminate much of this, but, make no mistake, this is what the higher ups on a team get paid very well for. Sometimes they are called out on it, sometimes they are told not to bring that to the next race, and sometimes they are told; good job. This is how racing is done. Obviously NASCAR is trying to make a statement here. That's all it is.

As a fan of NASCAR, I am sorry that you have a negative opinion Mr Big Wrench. However, I agree with Crash. While we all want people that are considered to be role models to provide a positive spin on life and set good examples, we have to remember that they are all competitors. They want to win and will do whatever it takes to do so. Call it bending the rules, finding the gray area, innovation, whatever you want. They are creative and have to find that competitive advantage.

With regards to "dirty tactics" and bad attitudes etc....They are human just like the rest of us. You have to remember what NASCAR was back when it was founded. It wasnt uncommon to find drivers get into a fist fight after the race for something that happened on the track. Todays Youth cant be sheltered from reality either. It is our jobs as parents to teach from others mistakes. Is it right for someone to throw a helmet? No I dont think it is, but it happens and it is real life. Is it ok to give the guy in front of you the chrome horn on the last lap at Bristol? Dale Sr used to do it all the time, and pretty much everyone loved that guy as a racer. These guys are in the spotlight 24/7 and to say that they cant act out and get upset about something is just silly.

My opinion is to watch NASCAR for the excitment it provides from all angles. Enjoy the competition on the track and the personalities that the drivers are off the track. Besides, NASCAR is the fastest growing sport in the USA. There is a ton of money being pumped into the local economies where the tracks are and the souvenir sales are unbelievable. The sponsors claim that it is their absolute best form of Advertising. The sport is good for the economy and fun to watch. Many of the drivers are also giving back through charity and supporting the Victory Junction Gang Camp.

To follow on what MBW was saying, you can be a world class racer, and be a class act. Valentino Rossi proved it when he gave his reaction to losing the world chanmpionship this past season to Nicky Hayden. You knew he was disappointed, but he was gracious and congratulatory to Nicky.

We' rather do a sport than watch it,, but having said that,,
Look for Jimmy to give a good account of himself.
Ya gotta beat Tony though.

We may see Walltrip drive like his hair is on fire.
His car can do it cheating or not,, it has the stuff and he might too.
That's might.
The Toyotas are steamers like them or not.

They need the switch to the new car.
It'll be much better for this spectator motor sport.
