SSSS TOO FRICKEN FUN!!!!

Post by Sloppyduner »

Just crawled in from the SSSS. HOLY COW DUTY what a fricken blast!!! Killed me, but a fricken blast. Great to see all of you. I would be here for days listing all the people I saw out there. It hit me on the way home, it would take a whole "season" to see all the people I saw in one weekend...HECK in one day at the SSSS. =D> =D> =D>

Anybody have pix?

I went Friday night. Worked the booth a couple hours then hit the show....They practically had to kick me out. I had a great time and got to talk to a couple vendors I was interested in.

Good point: Vendors were really trying to sell and in some cases offered great deals.

Bad point: I know why they do it but I think it is so LAME when rail manufactures put signs all over saying "Please don't touch". Geez h it's an offroad car, built to take extreme punishment and you are not allowed to even touch them. If I was a rail builder I'd have a sign that said "please jump in" I mean they are trying to SELL cars right?!

Only one manufacture told me..."jump in and see how it feels" and that was Morphic. I can tell you I now am in love with their cars...awesome...especially their front spindles....sweet!

Good show.

I was with GB when he jumped in that car, he was like a kid in a candie store. I learned a lot about new technologies for buggies being around GB and his buddy. Like a lot of things at the SSSS it was just frustrating seeing all the nice stuff I could never afford, kinda like watching a stripper and never be able to afford that either. But then again I'm just 6 numbers away.

I definately had a blast already looking to next year.

Being in a Sales career for 30 years I have worked my share of trade shows and work 2 a year. They are very draining but I always look forward to them because they can be so much fun as the SSSS was.

As people were asking for passes I asked if they were a supporting member. I sold a few memberships that way. Old salesmen never die they just go to heaven [-o<

so who sold the most permits on a single buy? I sold eight to one person (bragging) :P I think L&Lcorvairs sold seven. Anyone top eight

if my math is right, aSa profitted $15,363 off the current sales of permits =D>

btw, it was great meeting Friday's workforce and for us crazies that frequent the bbs, putting faces with the board names. My hat is off to all who volunteered their time. There's much work in making this thing happen. To Washr, Flo, and Darran...you guys did a fantastic job =D> =D> =D> I had such a great time that I will come again

Cool show, great people, finally getting some of the names right.

My bro in-law worked with Tim Wright and crew, (thanks guys for bringing him into the team).
Especially , I believe Bob Mason’s brother (James?) who gave him a cooking lesson on flipping.

Though he doesn’t usually eat shrimp, he’s taken on the challenged of flipping a dozen or so.
So they come down in the pan in the same place they started.

You have created a monster.

You know you're doing the right thing when you volunteer your time and you have a blast doing it. Thanks to everyone who volunteered, without you the ASA could not do what they do.

As usual fantastic show. It sort of renews the spirit when the Sand show comes around. Tons of people and many were buying as we had a good show at Lazer Star as well, not the best but not bad for sure. Great to see many of you I hadn't seen in a year. Thanks to those that volunteered!

I'm a bit better today. I had to get up at 3:30am for work yesterday and was here for 12 hours....yeah, the day after the SSSS!

This show was so very nice in the way it ran for the aSa.

Again, I'm very blessed to work with such a wonderful group of people! =D> =D> =D>

If it wasn't for all the people involved it'd never happen. No one that does anything for the aSa does it alone, we all need help! and we're so very fortunate to have wonderful people volunteer!! I truly appreciate that and my hat is off to you all! =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

I know I'll forget some names but here are as many as I can remember at the moment....

Debbie and Dave DeRenard
Darrin and Katherine Kelsey
Jim Colln
Lloyd and Lisa Misner
Bill Jones
Dick Holliday
Bob Mason
Gary Jordan
Irma and Gary Johnson
John and Mary Gagle

Chuck (zilla)
Mike Reber

Michelle and her mom Aileen
Nanette and her husband Brian (their 5th year to volunteer working the booth for 2 days!)
and General Flo Haynes!

Thank you! =D> =D> =D>

I’ll add a few:

Bill Hutchinson (my brother in-law) he worked the hospitality area for two days.

My boy AJ and his friend Patrick, kind of hard to keep a couple of 16 year olds focused.
But they did all right for two days in the trenches.
Should have seen their faces when we came out of the camping area in to the show the first time.
They were floored as we walked the main show area to the booth.

Only thing was AJ kept coming up…”dad that Banshee he’s selling is only 6”.
Six hundred or six thousand?

Great show and great job everyone! Thanks to to all who volunteered, especially those who made my measy 3 hours on Sunday look like an nanosecond. I haven't met anyone that's worked one show that didn't want to do it again. It is definitely a lot of fun.

The best part for me is being able to really let people know what the ASA is about and tell them more about what is happening with the dunes. A lot of people know about the issues we face, some just don't realize how much they don't know. Here are some the faces I saw: :? #-o :-k  =D>

I knew I'd forget some people......

Eric "Dunepilot" Cowan drove all the way down from Seattle to spend 4 days at the SSSS! Thank you!

Glenn "Lobuck" Montgomery came out from Yuma for a day and brought his son....Thanks Glenn! It was great seeing you again if only for a few moments!

Dwayne's family...Bill Hutchinson, Dwayne's son AJ and his buddy Patrick were there and helping wherever they were asked! =D>

Kevin's sons! =D> =D> =D> Bob Mason made them do all sorts of manual labor, from changing the tires on the Sand Limo to hauling tools around to taking boxes of stuff everywhere and then made them help Tim Wight out in the hospitality area! =D> =D> =D> Great job by 2 very nice young men!

I can probably keep adding names for the rest of the week!

I can't say this enough........

Without all the great volunteers none of this would happen at all!

I am so proud to be associated with this fantastic group of people!

A great show! It’s always great to put faces to the BBS names. Hopefully I’ll remember you all next year!!

A few more names that deserve mention:

Julie C. and her sister Jan
Martin “Marty” Jones
Sharon from Car Craft
Jason Sever and
Jerry Sever who was there in spirit.

Darrin and Katherine were in the booth all 3 days, ALL THE TIME! If they took breaks, I never saw them.

Without the dedication and continuous hard work of:

FLO and BRIAN

this event would not be the great success that it was.

Looking forward to doing it again next year.
