2008 General Voters Guide by CLORV

Post by A Family of 4 »

California League of Off Road Voters (CLORV) is a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization composed of grassroots off-highway vehicle (OHV) groups dedicated to preserving family off-road recreation by encouraging informed and active participation in government, working to increase the understanding of off-highway recreation issues by voters and legislators and influencing public policy through education and advocacy.

CLORV works to preserve, protect and expand OHV recreation opportunities by educating voters and legislators. CLORV accomplishes these things by:
  • Publishing a voters guide to educate off-road voters on which legislators are OHV friendly.
  • Increasing legislators awareness about the facts of OHV recreation.
  • Supporting legislation that provides quality OHV opportunities while at the same time protecting the environment.
  • Sponsoring an annual OHV lobby day where off-roaders walk the halls of the capitol in Sacramento to visit legislators.

Below is CLORVs recently released Voters Guide. It is broken down by Congressional, State Senate and State Assembly. If your district is not listed, then CLORV doesn't have a recommendation for that race.

If you need to look up your district, use the following links to help:

Is there any voting record information available for McCain, Obama and there respective V.P's, relating to land use issues?

Hey Vicky

Nice to see you yesterday

One question on this list that bugs me

Why on earth would OHV interest endorse Mary Bono?

She is one of the most anti OHV reps we have out there

All my districts are pretty much stress free no brianers at this point in the game, is it true Mary Bono is a Forest Service septic? If so that could work to or advantage with some of the DEIS's and the ridicules maintenance cost estimates their claiming, this is killing us on any arguments to keep any trails in the system, just a thought...TJ

Did you mean to write ridicules:
rid·i·cule Pronunciation Key
n. Words or actions intended to evoke contemptuous laughter at or feelings toward a person or thing: "I know that ridicule may be a shield, but it is not a weapon" (Dorothy Parker).

Or ridiculous:
ri·dic·u·lous Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[ri-dik-yuh-luhs] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–adjective causing or worthy of ridicule or derision; absurd; preposterous; laughable: a ridiculous plan.

Perhaps excessive would be a better word but it would be laughable if not for all the trails we're loosing, Glaimis as with Johnson Valley are open areas, so with these places is not an issue "yet". Skeptic or septic the latter works fine for me with politics, because it differently belongs in the toilet, but I think perhaps a little dialog would be in order for the Democrats CLORV is recommending...TJ

Perhaps excessive would be a better word, but it would be laughable if not for all the trails we're loosing.(Edited because of a "run on" sentence.) Glamis, (edited for spelling and sentence structure) as with Johnson Valley, are open areas so with these places it is not an issue "yet." Skeptic or septic; the latter works fine for me with politics because it definitely (edited as "differently" just doesn't belong in this sentence) belongs in the toilet. I think, perhaps, (edited for sentence structure) a little dialog would be in order for the Democrats CLORV is recommending.

I am most definitely interested in this election, and like the other Brian, I also voted already thanks to absentee status. Of course, this guide doesn't really help me that much since I moved to Nevada.

As long as we keep the important information going here, and the ribbing good natured, we moderators won't have much to do :) (and that's a good thing).

I would guess it would all have to depend on whether it is controlled by a certain party since each district is different. But maybe someone else has a better idea of which way to vote on this one.
