MLK Clean Up - BBS Contest!

Post by Woodglue »

Are you participating in the MLK Clean Up this year?

Would you be interested in a bit of a contest? 8)

ASA's Press Release Committee has written a Release that we will be publishing to the media after the MLK Clean Up. The Release will be taking advantage of the opportunity to publicly display the efforts of good stewards of the Dunes.
We hope to show that Off-Roaders in general (and Duners in particular) do care about the habitat in which they play.

In the past, we've included some quotes from "Joe-Duner", along with a picture.
This year, the Committee would like to turn to the ASA bbs for this!

To qualify for the contest, all you have to do is attend the clean-up and volunteer some time. Fill a trash-bag or two, or nine, and return to this thread and post a paragraph about your clean-up experiences along with a photograph of similar size and content as the one below. Include your first and last name and be sure to post it in this thread, no later than 01/18/10 @11:30pm.

The PR Committee will choose the winner on Jan19, and use portions of your paragraph in the Press Release as quotes. Your photograph will be published with the Press Release.

Following is a photo that we've used in the past:

Man I hate time zones. Just woke up at 6:10AM so I could head over to Buttercup to help run the check in table since things start at 8 CA time.

Except, somehow I've had it backwards in my head all week. Thinking that it's 7:30 in CA right now while it's 6:30 here...but thought to double check my phone and realized it's only 5:30 in CA.

Grrrr, I could have slept in. But now I can't get back to sleep.

Grrrr, I could have slept in.
After getting up at 5:15 catching a lousy breakfast and hitting buttercup 2 hours early on her B-day weekend.
Lynn too mumbled something to that effect at 7:01am Per our phone call #-o

At least you guys could get up. I jacked up my knee (again) on Friday and couldn't bare to walk on it Saturday morning. I was able to limp around on it by afternoon. I missed another clean up. :?

I had hoped to find more of these this year.

But seemed to strike out again and Just found more of there tracks around the bushes.

We pulled most of the trash from the closed areas and noticed the bushes were the major contributors.
As for the soda and bear drinking sand...They neted the most cans and bottles (I figured Steve is still on Probation) so I'd take a gamble and pick up the glass bottles.
Didn't see ANY buggy tracks in the closed areas so I cant say if any trash actually came from duners.
