Jim Epler Sandrail aka "Tatum of Temecula"

Post by RobC » Thu Jan 14, 2010 11:55 am

I'm looking for information here.

Over Thanksgiving week, I was down at the Glamis drags one afternoon. There was an awesome long travel, two-seater, V-8 mid-engine car there. This thing was beautiful. Of course I didn't have a camera at the time. I talked to the guy for a minute, but the only info I was able to get was that Jim Epler built it. I've looked around but haven't been able to find any info on sandcars built by him. If anybody has any info on this car, or cars built by Jim Epler, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks a lot.
Rob

I believe he was a dealer for Tatum for a while. I think he would buy the chassis and stuff from Tatum, then build the cars at his house?

Don't know if this is the same guy. If it is, he also does NHRA stuff.

Thinking about it now, I guess it did have some resemblance to a Tatum car.

Well I recently found out that these cars were built by Tatum of Temecula, of which Jim Epler was part owner. My friend just bought this car. This thing is incredible.
