Tapatalk
In case no one has heard of it, Tapatalk is an application for smartphones that allows for the posting of text and photos from a mobile device to a forum such as this one. I was just wondering if adding that capability here had been considered. I do not know what, if any costs are involved, but I have heard it is a simple thing to add.

Re: Tapatalk
I haven't heard of it Matt. If it is compatible with PHPBB it might be something worthwhile to add.

Re: Tapatalk
Looks good Matt. Its free for the forum owners (bonus for the ASA!), and looks to be easy to install.
Jason, you want to check this out, and see if its compatible with our version of PHP?

Re: Tapatalk
phpBB3 is one of the two platforms they say they support. I'll try and take a look at it in the next few days and see if I can get it implemented.
I'll probably need some help testing it though since they don't have a client for windows mobile

Re: Tapatalk
Just a thought. The app is 1.99, for the google phones, I suspect the same for others. Might get a few more people posting from the dunes with updates and such. I suspect that the idea is to make their money from the sale of the application, so it makes sense that they would give it to forum owners.

Re: Tapatalk
I don't understand the point of it. I post on this bbs from my phone without it, by using the internet and coming onto the site... just like sitting at a computer. What does tapatalk offer beyond that?

Re: Tapatalk
Pretty much the same thing. The interface is just a little easier. It also allows the posting of photos from your mobile device.

Re: Tapatalk
So I'm still waiting on upgrading my phone (hate windows mobile but when I last upgraded Android wasn't yet an option, should finally be upgrading very soon though...just waiting for some better options from Verizon since the Droid X is too big for my tastes, the Fascinated is too crippled, and the other current options are getting dated. The new HTC Thunderbolt has me drooling...but who knows when it will be released and it will probably be beyond my price range...sigh.)
But...I did pick up a nook color last weekend and rooted it so I at least have an android device I can run apps on now.
Which means if there's still interest in this I can now look into implementing it since I finally have something I can test with

Re: Tapatalk
Jason, let's go ahead and implement it. I recently added an iPad to my gadget inventory, so I can also look at any issues we may have on that platform.jhitesma wrote:So I'm still waiting on upgrading my phone (hate windows mobile but when I last upgraded Android wasn't yet an option, should finally be upgrading very soon though...just waiting for some better options from Verizon since the Droid X is too big for my tastes, the Fascinated is too crippled, and the other current options are getting dated. Re: Tapatalk
No guarantees on how quickly I can experiment with it (Katie demands lots of attention from daddy!) But when I get some spare time I'll see if I can get it installed on the server.

Re: Tapatalk
Ok. That was a lot quicker and easier than I expected. Hardest parts were modifying our logo to fit their requirements and picking a ccategory to list us under (We're under Powersports->ATV was the best option they had)
Using it to post now even!

Re: Tapatalk
Well this is good. This was the last of them that I'm on to become available via Tapatalk. Thanks Jason.
I really like the X by the way. I thought it would be overly large too, but I have found it to be a bigger asset than it is a negative.

Re: Tapatalk
I noticed a few weeks ago that this had stopped working but hadn't had time to look at it. Then I did have time to look at it and figured out what was wrong but didn't have time to deal with it.
But I finally made a bit of time and got it fixed. So for anyone who uses it and wondered why it stopped working it's working again now.
