Hail in the Dunes this weekend

Post by gelwell »

Well in the 43 years I have gone to the desert. There was a hail storm over Ogilby on Saturday about 4:30 pm. This was a first. I've seen it rain many times but a hail storm was something to see. It seems this season the dunes have been wet most of the year. I am sure we will see lots of little milk vetches.

We were parked at Buttercup and were on a dune ride when the storm passed. The sky was very black north of I-8 and it looked like Glamis & Ogilby got hit hard. It only rained Friday night and for about an hour Saturday afternoon. I guess we only got the tail end of the storm at Buttercup. Sunday & Monday were great for duning.
