Where Can I Rent an ATV??

Post by Iceman »

I'm planning on bringing a friend out to the desert this weekend from San Diego and wanted to know if there is somewhere in this area that rents ATV's? I don't think he's gonna have too much fun just watching me....

Iceman, you have to be more specific as to what area your going to. If your talking Yuma, there is no place to rent ATV's. I called around to every shop in Yuma last year looking to rent a quad for my wife. Got the same answer every where I called. NO!!!

I'm in San Diego and will be going to Ocotillo Wells. Anything from here to there would do.

There has to be one somewhere here in San Diego... If not I see a new business in my future!! LOL

Iceman,

Have you made any phone calls to any of the dealers in SD? I had a friend who wanted to rent also and couldn't find a thing in this area. Good luck with the NEW BUSINESS Venture

Years ago there was a company that would come out the glamis and rent quads and also had 2 buggies for rent. They would charge $200 including all fuel each day or by the hour. It seemed to be a good business but later I learned that there rentals would get thrashed and the business insurence was incredibly high. Only lasted for a few years then they disapeared.
I havent heard nor seen any other rentals since then.
Good luck

Iceman check out Academy rentals, they're near my house in the Point Loma area I thought I saw 400EX's outside their shop. They also have toy haulers to rent. The web site is: HTTP://www academyrentals.com. Jim.

Jim,

Thanks for the heads up on that one. I gave them a call and they have just about every type of atv you could want to rent. They are priced way too high though (in my opinion). It would cost my buddy $550 to rent a 400ex for the weekend. DOH!!!

ANY ATV dealer will rent ANYTHING they have in inventory.
The only problem is the term, it's usually two to five years, but you do get to keep it after the "Rental", contract expires!!!

Here's a follow up on the renatl situation. My friend ended up renting a Polaris 250 from Outback ATV Rentals in Ocotillo Wells. The girl that rented to us was very friendly and nice. My friend ended up paying $200 to rent the quad for 24 hours (this was $50 off the regular price of $250!). I completely understand why they need to charge so much for a quad rental to make money, but personally I think $200 is way too much to spend. They keep all their atv's rented though, so someone can afford it!!
