Going to Gordon's. Not the same as Glamis in my opinion.

Where's Gordon's?
Glamis and Gordon's Well are both in the Imperial Sand Dunes. Glamis is the North end, Gordon's (and also Buttercup) are on the South end. You can ride between Glamis and Gordon's via the Sand Highway.

Gordon's is very hard to get into to camp. Over T-day I saw many RVs stuck, no, buried in the sand. I even saw 4X4's with Weekend warriors in tow stuck. If you are not familiar with Gordon's, I would not go there.
(The above statement is my own opinion and not that of the ASA's.)

I tried to vote for the 3 things that I was going to do for New Years, but the poll wouldn't let me vote twice and one wasnt listed. I am going to be staying in the hometown, which is Vegas, and working. Sounds like alot of fun huh? NOT Wish I was going to the dunes. Have fun everyone.

I was thinking about looking up the address of people arrested for creating problems over T-day weekend and partying in their yards...I've got a bunch of pallets I've been wanting to burn somewhere

Seriously though it's looking like Gordon's. The members of my group who were at Glamis for T-day no longer want to go up there on big weekends after that weekend. They're afraid of the enforcement tactics creating a riot and with no "safe hills" available to dune to at night those of us with less than reliable buggies feel like we'd be stuck in camp since we like to stay in areas where we can easily get a rescue truck in when something goes wrong.

Maye someday I'll be able to afford a reliable buggy and will be willing to go deep into the dunes at night but until then I'll stick with playing it safe and only dune at night in areas where I can be easily rescued...which pretty much rules out Glamis on big weekends :(

That is a frequent occurence at Gordon's. The sand is very soft at times, but hey, it's all part of the game! :) One guy in our group tows an old heavy 5th wheel with a 2wd Dodge Ram, he gets stuck every single trip! My Dad has only buried his motorhome a couple times in the years we've been going out there, so it's really just a matter of keeping your eyes open and watching for soft spots. It definitely doesn't hurt to have a couple 4x4's standing by though!

Sorry to hear that mad. Don't the boys over in the motor pool have something that could at least be "borrowed" for a little recon?

Jason, that maybe the funniest thing you have ever written, you must be serious.

I am an optimist,

I'll be taking pix and lighting flares at the n/w corner of Comp Hill like we have done the past few years. And Duning the now opened temp closed areas.

Whoa, where have I been?? When did the closed areas open?

By the way, we like the fact that Gordon's is hard to get to. Keeps crowds down!!! Actually, Gordon's only problem in my opinion is the dust that settles in the camping area (dune buggy flats) right at dusk with the sand drags.

But I still go there all the time!!!

Oh yeah, I forgot about the dust. Plenty of dust. It is no good going there. Getting stuck in the dust is real bad. Stay in Glamis. :P  :P

Well, now Gordons is sounding that much better! Keep it up guys and you will be overpopulated in a heart beat! I guess I better give it a try before the migration occurs!

We are already overpopulated, although there were plenty of people who got severly stuck over t-day and I'm not joking. If you go to Gordon's, you better be prepared for a different experience then parking on asphalt (like Gecko) or hard pack sand.

That's for sure! It's always an adventure trying to find camp when coming back from a ride on a big weekend. :)

Thats no joke, I have never seen the sand as soft as it was over t-day at Gordon's. Everyone was getting stuck. Its always soft but not like it was last t-day. Getting out was a little better thanks to the rain.
Are we there yet....?

Two Quotes:
When did the closed areas open?

I am an optimist,

I'll be taking pix and lighting flares at the n/w corner of Comp Hill like we have done the past few years. And Duning the now opened temp closed areas.
Don't want to cause confusion here; but since I am an optimist I believe the closures will re-open anyday now...
