'02 Sand Sports Super Show - Sat, Sept 21st

Post by Flo Haynes »

Volunteers are needed for the 2002 Sand Sports Super Show (SSSS).

Saturday the ASA will need 22 volunteers per 2 hour shift (except for the setup). The shows hours on Saturday are 9 am-7 pm.

Please post here and I will add your name to the shift you choose. Some volunteers will be working the gates (handing out ASA information), working the merchandise booth or working the membership booth. Very easy and fun work. The 2 hours will fly by. Kids are welcome to volunteer too. Bring the entire family. Updated 7/30/02--we will now have 2 computers in a room where the new memberships will be keyed in as soon as someone signs up. So if you want to stay behind the scene--we have a spot for you....

Ray and I can help out. I'm going to wait to give you a specific time to see where we are most lacking. We can do either Saturday or Sunday, but Friday is not possible.

Count me in. I'll drag the family along too! I'll take Sat and start around 1100-1130...I stayed about 4-5 hours last time and will probably do that again. SANDCAT.. will you be there? I want to see that new baby!

Sue you only want to volunteer for 1/2 hour! I am sure Frankie wants to see SandCat's shorts again! That's all he remembered from the SSSS last year.

Sue does Kevin have a signon screen name?

Flo, my wife and I would love to work the gate again for a couple of hours, but I don't know which day we'll be available just yet. For now, I would say the first two hours Sunday are the most likely.

"Shorts" -it will most likely be. Come on now Frankie.. a 37 yr old- mom! Hey, I still will take the compliments anyway I can. :) Thanks man! I have been working out right after, Brenna joined us into the world. No more pregnant legs!

Good thing I know Mickey..she is so kick back. Sure she doesn't mind if I work "Sunday" anyway. Right, you will be there Saturday. We may just miss each other, this time. :(

Depends on if my son and Janine's race that Saturday.

Will keep posting..

Help some of us newbies out here, who are trying to figure things out and get involved.

What's a "SSSS 2002", where is it at etc? I don't see it listed in upcoming events.

Hey, maybe I am getting blind in my old age. (or too much sand in the eyes)

Welcome L&L! SSSS stands for Sand Sport Super Show. It's the annual sand event at the Costa Mesa Fairgrounds in California (don't know if you're from CA or not). ASA has a booth there and can use any and all help!

Thanks for asking,
Nik

I edited the topic title so it's more clear. L&L Corvairs brought up a good point. We need to always keep in mind that those new to this BBS are gonna have a hard enough time decifering all that's been going on here, so we need to make things as clear as possible if we expect new people to join in and help out, which you know more than any of us how important that is.

L&L Corvairs, thanks for pointing that out.

We are working on the details right now on how to get people in who are working the early shift. I will be contacting everyone via email and letting them know how and where to go.
