Latest Information on Drop 2 Reservoir Project

Post by Jerry Seaver » Sat Jul 12, 2008 9:17 pm

Hello All:

I hope the summer is treating you all well, and that all had a
wonderful 4th of July.

I wanted to drop you a note regarding the status of the Drop 2 Storage
Reservoir Project, and inquire if I may provide an in-person update as
well at your next Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area Technical Review
Team (ISDRA TRT) meeting.

Please find following several milestones that may be of interest to you
related to the Project:

- Late August 2008: Prime Contract Award

- Mid September 2008: Prime Contract Notice to Proceed

- Early October 2008: Prime Contractor Mobilizes

- Late October 2008: Evan Hewes Highway Closed from West of the
South-West Corner of Section 36 to West of the South-West Corner of
Section 32
(Access to Section 36 and the ISDRA via Exit 151 "Gordon's Well" will
not be negatively impacted by the Project, and Evan Hewes will not be
closed by Project activities any where in front of (South of) or East of
Section 36.)

- Late October 2008: Exit 146 "Brock Research Ranch" Interchange and
Bridge Closed

- Late October 2008: Imperial County Unpaved Road West of Section 36
Closed
(Access to the unpaved road within Section 36 to Evan Hewes Highway
will not be negatively impacted by the Project.)

- Mid to Late 2010: Project Substantially Complete

- Mid to Late 2010: Evan Hewes Highway Re-surfaced and Re-opened

- Mid to Late 2010: Exit 146 "Brock Research Ranch" Interchange and
Bridge Re-opened

- Mid to Late 2010: County Road West of Section 36 Re-aligned, gravel
surfaced, and Re-opened

Once the contract is awarded and the contractor's proposed schedule
received, reviewed, and approved, I will be able to share more specific
details of the activities between October 2008 and October 2010.

The Project website at
http://www.usbr.gov/lc/region/programs/ ... rvoir.html has a
variety of outreach documents including a Project Fact Sheet, Frequently
Asked Questions, and Project Status Updates.

I look forward to continued collaboration with the ISDRA TRT and
appreciate your participation in this critical water conservation
Project.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns whatsoever, please do
not hesitate to contact me at anytime.

Thank you and best regards,
