T Maxx at Glamis in the sand.

Post by FLYING TIGER »

Bought my son a new T maxx.

The shop we bough it from, stressed to us to run the engine in very easily.

This we've done, the engine has barely gotten hot, and we've followed the running in instuctions to the T. Pun intended.

It runs great, we've really babied this truck, have taken no risks in overheating the engine, and have sent in the lifetime engine replacement warranty.

Next step is to take it to Glamis.

Will the stock air filter with oil on the element be ok?

I don't want to inhale any sand into the engine.

I'm Cautious Carl when it comes to this T maxx. I'm going to treat this little truck with the best care, and would appreciate any advise and others experiences.

Thanks Ross and Trevor

Get a "Motorsaver" airfilter. It will keep the sand out. I also oil mine up with K&N filter oil.

I run the stock filter on my Kyosho in the sand and have only had a problem once. That was when I was running with no body and flipped it knocking the air cleaner off in the process and landing upside down with the engine sucking sand.

It was nasty. But I tore the engine down and rebuilt it and it still works, just a little down on power now :)
