Wash 10?

Post by phx450 »

Its been about a year since I have been back to glamis. We are heading out on Halloween and staying until Monday. Normally we camp wash 10 to eliminate the crowds. Is everything still the same? How is the sand? We are bringing out motorhomes, toyhaulers etc, but an occaisional 2 wheel drive truck.

Is it still necasary to go that far?

Just checking ahead of time.

Also im looking for a set of STU 1300 or 1300+ for my vw buy if anyone has any!

The railroad has been working along wash road and the tressle at 10 is jacked up to some degree. It will probably be openned up better for Holloween. The sandy desert floor at wash 10 is fluffed from the south winds all summer but will be packed down somewhat, soon. 10 has gotten a lot more popular on busy weekends over the last few years.

I run STU 1300 #4's on a VW. No problem. You just need the cc's.

Like proglamis said, it's fluffed.
Coming in the dark on Friday night (2500HD towing a 20' ToyHauler), the hairest part is between the bathrooms, driving in the wash. No problem at all. Kept in 2wd, and stayed on the gas.
Leaving there yesterday afternoon, I saw evidence that some had gotten stuck there. But again, we had no problem in 2wd, not even aired down.
As for the camp areas...
We camped at Wash9.8 under the big tree. The ground there was alot more solid than in the Wash.

I'd give it a go if I were you!
