Getting Dirty on Wash Rd. A BLM Article

Getting Dirty on Wash Road
Heavy seasonal wear and tear along the road leading into Wash 1 at the Imperial Sand Dunes required some serious TLC. A Both Imperial County and the BLM’s El Centro Field Office wanted to reclaim the desert of old tailing piles left behind following the construction of Highway 78 in the 1960s -- prompting its use to resurface this section of the road. Using this “left-over” material significantly reduced the time, effort and money it otherwise would have cost to haul in dirt to fix the road. These logistics aside, fewer plants and wildlife were disturbed by this use, and views to the scenic desert were restored.

The small section of the road where the material was applied will be used to test the viability of it over the long term and through its heaviest use. If the road holds up in this area, remaining material will be used in future repairs.

To prepare for the opening of the 2011/2012 season on Friday, September 30th, maintenance crews also graded the road from Wash 3 to Wash 15.

Perhaps they should test this on the road into Olgiby Tower as well...
(The above statement is my own opinion and not that of the ASA's.)

I second the motion. But alas Ogilby gets nothing and like it.
"Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end"
