OK everyone...got a proposition for 2 of you. I need two guiena pigs to test some new lamps.

I have a set of 100w 14v floods and a set of 75w 14v floods I need tested in the real world and this night run is perfect. The catch is you have to run one of the following motors:

Chevy LS1, LS2, or LS7
Honda V-6 any that is electronic fuel injected.

You must already be running Lazer Star lights (so you can use your existing lamps for spares). In turn you will get a brand new set of lights of your choice (except HID or LED, sorry guys), either with the new lamp you might be testing or the original lamp.

Please let me know by PM, Email: ron@lazerstar.net, or call 800-624-6234.

Thanks!!

I dont know about silly, but he scared manny and I the way he drives that S2 in the canyons. We were hauling *****. I kept picturing my trailer, quad and Mrs Woodglues quad in a ditch the way were taking those corners.

Now on the pace of the rides at night. I typically was in 2nd and 3rd on my 400EX. The only time we got cooking, was when we were in the small rollers between Gecko and Olds following some tracks.

Grumpy Wookiee said it best. We all ride to the level of everyone. No one left behind and safety first. We want to go riding with each other another day too.

Yeah seems that way. The problem is we've found that these motors run high voltage for their fuel injection systems. Like as much as 14.7. When we're talking about a peanut lamp in a gauge or an LED or even an 1157 lamp that doesn't really matter much, they are only slightly brighter and warmer. But when you get up around 75 or 100w yes they are somewhat brighter but also much, much warmer than running at say 12.5-13v. My bench testing has gone very well, but I need some buggy time with them.

So if anyone can help that would be great. I could put the test lamps in some loaner housings if someone has room or could make room on their buggy for them. I also need some serious feedback and willingness to run them, all the time the motor is running, moving or not...

Well, if someone out there has a Chevy LS1, LS2, or LS7 or Honda V-6 in their rail, you're welcome to join us quad duners on the Night Ride. We can hit dunes that are good for big rails, and ride in places where the rails are best. You can keep up with us with no problem and at the worst just take a different line than we do. Bottom line is, we'll accommodate your rail ride and you can score a nice set of new lamps from LazerStar as well!!! :P You can't go wrong on this one. [-(

Hey Ron, I dont know if this would work, but we can put them on the BEAST if you would like. I am fitted with 3 HELLA 4000 Watt RALYE style lights on my front bumper. I can run that around in the dunes for you.

It is a 2000 Ford F-350 V-10. Link to pic in my signature. If your lights work well, I am thinking of putting a light bar on the roof and runing 5 more. A free set to me might also come with a sale for another set and a half for you...

My only problem will be, who will pay for gas if it is running non-stop?

Right back at ya. Try and stay cool in the low desert of Glamis in June/July!!

I'm taking my boat, so some of the time will be on Lake Millerton. Hopefully the rest of the time will be air conditioned.

With the low humidity, it will be real nice by 9pm. Even better by 10pm.

Looks like it might be a good idea pack a jacket just in case.

No worries, you can arrive at midnight and that should time well to catch me after my first ride.
Besides, when you're kickin' across the dunes in 3rd or 4th gear, 93* feels like 65*... right? \:D/

Would you guys like to meet up in Brawley for dinner at, oh say... 9:00pm? It'll still be pretty warm, so I'm thinking.... :-k Indoor Dining!

At first, I was thinking what the heck, no way did we arrive last year at midnight. And I was like soooo [-X . But then I started looking, and here's what I found [as if it matters  ]

Per the Aug 20 12:01AM night ride? thread:
It was planned for midnight, as:
Sloppyduner wrote: MIDNIGHT AUGUST 20TH Wash 1!!!
Breakfast in front of the camera at 8 AM.
And further confirmed in the same thread when:
Woodglue wrote: see you at midnight Sa:Aug19 at Wash 1:P
But then, just a few days before the trip:
Woodglue wrote:
LoBuck wrote:
Woodglue wrote:We're planning to get there on Saturday night [mid-nightish] and ride till the Sunday morning heat forces us to get the heck outta there
The guys that are supposedly doing the night drags will be running earlier. So if you want to be there for those, you may want to arrive earlier than Midnight.
:P Slop, can we leave earlier :?: :P
And then the deal was sealed:
Woodglue wrote:
Sloppyduner wrote:
Woodglue wrote: :P Slop, can we leave earlier :?: :P
Yes we go at 7? I know I said 7:30 or 8 in my PM but be here at 7.
Ok, 'we go at 7'... I'll get there a bit sooner and leave some time for putting my bike on your trailer so that we can leave at 7:00p.
And on the September night ride trip last season, per the Night Ride Trip - Sep 09~10 thread:
Schedule:
Arrive Sep09 at 10:00p
Depart Sep10 at 9:00am <or when it gets too hot to bare>
So, I was right in thinking and being like sooo [-X . For whatever that's worth.

I plan on leaving Elsinore at 5:00p or 5:30p on Sat evening and driving 15S to 79S to S2 to 78 to 86S to Brawley for dinner to 78 to Washroad to Wash1.
But, I usually get all excited and end of leaving earlier than planned.
btw guys, I'm bringing my trailer and you're all welcome to the shower, toilet, cooking facilities and air-conditioner.

Nice! Thanks Mike! I was thinking about bringing my trailer for this, but I guess there is no reason now...

Hey Slop, want to car pool? We can fit both quads in my truck...

Mike, where do you want to meet for dinner?

I got my "Lazerstars" working last night. They are not real lazer stars, but they are nice and will work out well. When I was installing them last night, I took them apart to paint them. When I was reasembling them, I broke a bulb. I thought "great, thats going to be a pain in the *** to get by saturday". Then I looked at the bulb. It is a 12V 35W halogen that I could get at Home Depot for $7.95!!!

Go figure

Im so excited about this I can barley contain myself.

Yay, Alyshka and 06RaptorRyder decided to come!!! \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ Nochos for everyone!!!

Sorry Grump. Last trip out to Glamis I left here @ 930 and showed up in wash 6 (I think) at 11:45. So that's a pretty good route and time for me. I haven't been able to get back to my night time scedule yet so I don't know about the extra drive down to Oceanside.

That brings me to dinner at Brawley. I take the 115 over from Calipatria. Helps knock 6 miles off the trip. So I bypass Brawley all together. BUT if you go to Rallys I will gladly pay you to bring me a PLAIN burger and fries.

I'm torn about getting there @ 10 or Midnight. I SHOULD get there @ 10 and run my quad up and down Wash Rd to test the brakes. BUT I might find something else wrong. NOT SAYING I GOT A BAD DEAL!!!!

I'll see how my schedule shapes up and TRY to get out there @ 10.

We ususally meet up at Rally's [across from McDonalds] but they only have outdoor dining and I think it might be too warm for that at 9:00p.
There's a decent Mexican Resturant in the Von's Shopping Center [on the left just as you pull into Brawley]. I think it's called Rancho XXXXXX or something like that. Or, if they're not open that late, then there's always Jack-In-The-Box as a failsafe.
Do you guys have a preference?

GW, from Oceanside you want to drive up to Elsinore, throw your bike in my trailer and we can go from there via carpool? I'll drive and pay gas, just no sleeping or farting allowed.
To get to my place in Elsinore, you can come over the 74 [Ortega hwy] or come over the 79 and head up the 15. Or, maybe I can just meet you in a parking lot in Temecula just off the 15. Load your bike into my trailer, and leave your truck there overnight [ ].
Your call but you're welcome to carpool with me [that I way I can drive in the carpool lane!]

Sure Woody! Sounds good. I would rather leave my truck at a residence if possible though. Its kind of a LARGE target.

I cant promise on the "no farting" rule. But most of the time, mine dont stink...

And I can help with gas on your 8.1L hog...

Ok, we have a plan!
You can leave the beast at my house. I'd let you park it in my garage, but it's not a fricken barn so you wont fit.
I'll PM you with the specifics.

Also, I spoke to norocksplease last night, and he's a no-go for this trip but he promised himself that he'd make the next two. =D>

I ride with knobbies on the front. But if I had em, I'd use sand tires.
Slop, the hex on the lug-nut is stripped -or- the lug-stud is stripped?
If it's the hex on the nut... Vice-Grips! ...and then buy a new nut.

Hey Woody,
I have some extra front sand tires if you want to use them.

Sloppy, stop complaining. You are going to go riding man! Get excited.

Also, I will bring out a new hub for you so that you can take the studs out of it. If I understand you correctly from our conversation last night, you were trying to wrench on it and spun the stud, correct?

We may have to cut it off, but I dont think that we should try to do it before this trip. Like you said, at least it is not a problem with the rear.

Is the lug nut stripped as well? we still might be able to get it with some ingenutiy (ie. tack weld the stud in place and use an impact wrench to get off the lug)...

But that would require a trip to the Wookie Garage...

By the way, if any of you were wondering where my screen name came from, it is the name of my father and I's race team....Grumpy Wookie Racing!!! We have a 1000hp '84 Trans Am and a 450 hp '68 Nova that we race.

We are both grumpy, hairy beasts!!!!

Man, to tell you the truth, I kinda want this trip to be over too...I havent been able to sleep for two nights because I am so excited....

Oh, wait, no complaining, forgot.......sorry.....

Due to me being gone on the night ride Sat night thru Sun morning, and being useless the rest of the weekend, my wife, son and dog are heading out of town. In fact, they just left and wont be back until Mon afternoon.
That gots me to thinkin'. Why go home and sit there alone tonight? Why not head to Glamis instead. Pretty neat-o idea, but maybe next time. Talked to my car-pool buddy [GW] and no can. So, we're a go with the original plan.

Can you bring them this weekend? I'll put them on in-situ once we get out there. I'd love to see what all they hype is about in regards to front sand tires.

Sure, I got two sets you can try out. One is Sand Gear, the other is ITP Sand Stars. I really like the Sand Stars, they work well. The Sand Gear tires are alright, but not the best.

You know, if we were to leave a little later, say around 7 - 8, and you came down closer to O'side, I might be able to talk DP into letting me go tonight...

Its worth a try...
