Re: The 2008/09 ASA Dune Trip
What a fricken AWESOME TRIP!!!! Now I know why I love the ASA and the dunes so much. It has NOTHING (OK maybe a little) to do with the great riding. The people make a trip!!! From a half hour after I got there Thursday till Saturday morning each rig that entered wash 16 was like a different Christmas present under the tree. "whats this? Oh its Justin...COOL!!" "Whats this rig?... Oh they kept going...Not for me
" " Oh I reconise THAT package (rig) Its SD Robbie!!! Its for me...GREAT!!!" I reconize THAT package too Its Robert...Even in the dark I know its for me!!!" All the way up to the last "package" (GLF) It was all like reciving a great gift. The gift of friends... the best gift of all. Throw in catching up, dune shop talk, FOOD, BS around the fire, FOOD, a ride here and there, FOOD, more BS around the fire. A comfy, cool place to sit while seeing the next generation of duners play. Oh geez what a great, but too quick, way to spend a long weekend.
I truely missed those of you who I normaly see out there, and the few who were unable to make who I rarely see. I hope we all get to do this again soon.
Now wheres the pictures? I'm really want to see...
The group pictures.
Dennis jumping the Short Bus.
Robbie Jumping the RZR
Anything else Mikey has
Oh and speaking of Dennis, AKA "AIR WALTER" I would have to say this guy gets my vote dor duner of the trip. Power in a light vehicle is pretty easy to get around the dunes. As awesome as the nice quick rails, quads, and side by sides that are meant to go out into the dunes are, riding in a 6 seat Ranger with an oldtimer is something everybody should get to do at least once in their duning life. I gotta give it up for both "AIR WALTER", Polaris, and Walters pit crew (George and Robbie) Thats just not natrual. What happens with that thing is not suppose to happen. Its awesome to watch and take part in, but DANG thats just not right...in a good way.
On the other side of the Coin. Justin ("goofydunner") Dude I worry about you. First trip with you...blown up bike. Second trip BEEF ride after beef ride...OUCH!!! We still love you man but stay on your quad. You scar the weak ones in camp (me included)

Re: The 2008/09 ASA Dune Trip
Have to agree with Sloppy's comments. I know the south duners really enjoyed themselves. I cant think of the last time I laughed so hard. The eats were great with the pit barbeque. I didnt know we were doing that otherwise I would have bought more ribs. Clay's tingeleys I think were a hit with us.
Thanks for the opportunity to lead the group. Sorry if I missed the mark getting us home. I make G once a year for this trip so its not like it is my regular dune neighborhood. Cant wait till next year. =D>

'Inlaws' of GLF
alyshka & Lydia
Goofy Duner
RX 4 INSANDITY

In the "other" loop:

In total, there were over 45 of us.
Here's the Group Pic, taken Sunday Morning. And I'm pretty sure it holds everyone who was in our loop. At night time, we looked like this: And here's some of my other pics: I thought this was our best trip yet. The weather was better than any other trip, but this lead to people getting out and chatting it up more than a 108 degree or 29MPH windy day can afford.
Awesome folks, good eats, and fun rides.
Justin brought the Movie Screen, and put on the movie Cars for all the kids. Afterwards, all the dads went over and watched From Dust to Glory. It was coincidentally my son's 5 1/2 birthday on Feb28. Watching
Clay's bike was down and out, so there were no Clay Rides. But Robert did a fine job at leading us around.
We checdked out our favorite PMV spots, the pics above are of the biggest plant I've ever seen out there..... And, it's in AN OPEN RIDING AREA!
I was happy to have finally met Gene's Kelly and Gracie!
Good fun had by all!
Thank you all! =D>

Re: The 2008/09 ASA Dune Trip
I wanted to send a special thank you out to Glamisbound / Loran for the dune buggy ride for Kelly and Gracie. =D> Kelly loved it, well Gracie didn't. I may have a buggy in my future. I simply explained to Kelly, "Honey we are just 6 numbers away from getting one".
Thanks again Loran, good seeing your Dad and brother again.

Great trip for us too. It was great to see everyone. I duned with a lot of different people but missed a few too. I put a lot of trouble free miles on my buggy and ultimately ran out of race gas Sunday afternoon and had to pack it in.
Gosh and I were the last men standing =D>

It was a ride with GB (2007 monster ride) That got Lidia HOOKED on the dunes after ridding with Loran she said " now I get it " until then she didn't understand and the rest is history. Another =D> AT-A-BOY for GB.
What a trip

I don't know who worked harder on that Friday ride to the PMV Robert for looking at his GPS and trying to find a path for two monster rails or the two monster rails that had to follow 4 quads a RZR and Rhino on a tight path through the dunes. Either way large quantity of kudos to all involved. Gotta give props to Litia too. I know she wanted to leave the 400 in the middle of the dunes and hitch a ride in one of those rails.
Next ASA trip there WILL be another rail in camp. In fact I'm on my way out to the coop to work on ma motor. No...Really!!! I am.
