The 2010 ASA Dune Trip

Post by Woodglue »

The 2010 aSa Dune Trip is open to any member of the ASA! If you're not a member, you can sign up for free at: Join the ASA!
This is our annual opportunity for us to all camp together.

Come out to Glamis and circle your rigs on Feb 26~28, 2010 in Wash 16 with fellow members of the aSa for a weekend of fun with like minded duners!

A series of group rides will take place as well as camp fire fun and just good ole conversation to be had by all!

Check out our 2009 ASA Dune Trip thread for a little history.

Most will arrive to the Wash16 camp on Friday afternoon, while others will already be there by that time.
Most will depart on Sunday night, while others will stay behind for another day or two of fun.

We are family oriented and fun-loving stewards of the dunes.

Not to be too formal, but here are some guidelines...
 Know the aSa's position on nails, metal, glass, etc.
 Know the law about drinking and duning.
On rides:
 Wear the appropriate Riding Gear, BackPack with tools, GPS, Cell Phone, Water and Goggles to name a few.
 Stay in line, passing at speed puts others in danger.
 Each rider is responsible for the rider behind them. If he/she stops, you stop too.
 Everyone is depending on your ride to make it back to camp. Is yours up for it?

We hope to have you join us!

Though I have only been on one of these ASA trips, which we thoroughly enjoyed BTW, =D> I'm thinking that we need to turn this into more than just a Friday night to Sunday thing. I say three full days minimum, but four days would be even better.

It's always an option to do that.
If the trip is 'planned' for Friday thru Sunday, anyone can come out earlier [like alyshka] and stay later [like Glamisbound]. We will plan it to be a longer trip next year though. How about thursday Night thru Monday.

I think it would be cool to have a day-time hang out area in the center of camp. Something that can be a central hang-out kind of like the fire-pit does at Night Time.
A nice Shady place, with a table or bar. Folks can pull their camp-chairs and ice-chests over there.
Does anyone here have a Large Easy Up and a table that they would be willing to dedicate for this use?

Goofy, can you bring the projector again?
And who brought that nifty ASA Banner last year? Robert?

Now, who else?
Compared to this time last year (i.e. 2 1/2 weeks prior to the trip), it looks like we're going to have a pretty slim camp this year.

If you have room, Sloppy suggested I join in with your group.

I'm a long time duner, mostly at Dumont, but I like to get to Glamis every now and then. My sandrail is broke but I have a Manx style buggy I would bring. I'm a big photography hobbyist and would love to take lots of photos. I especially like to do night photography. My work can be seen here: http://www.nealrideoutphotography.com

It might be because it was scheduled 2 weeks after Presidents Day and might be hard for people to swing two trips in a short month. I vote we do Mid March next year St Paddys day might be fun.

Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to make it.

Just to clarify the location, I turn right just passing the wash 16 train bridge? Will there be a sign or any markers?
Its been a few years since I've been there. Thanks

Yes, you are generally correct.
On the new Wash Road, you may or may not be able to see the Wash16 Train Bridge. I don't recall.
Regardless, BLM has posted white stakes at each Wash denoting the number of that Wash.
So, one way or another, you will know where Wash16 is located. Our group will be to the right (i.e. West) after the Wash 16, before Wash 17 and it will be large. Depending upon when you are arriving, there will be a ASA banner like the one in the below picture. You can also look for our group with a bunch of ASA Flags (on bikes, and on RV flag-poles).
