ASA Calendar Sponsor - ASA Night Ride Group seeks donations

Post by Woodglue »

If you flip your 2009 ASA Calendar open to Saturday, the 6th of June; you'll see that it says, "ASA Off Season Night Ride" and above that is the sweeeeetest picture in the entire calendar!

In the 2009 Calendar, the month of June was sponsored by ‘the ASA Night Ride Group’! There’s nothing like the sight of smooth virgin dunes under a moon-lit night sky, and a picture of it is a close 2nd my book!

We’re committed to do it again! At a time when other long-time calendar-sponsors are backing out of their support, alyshka and I have committed for the ASA Night Ride Group to again sponsor a portion of the next ASA Calendar!
In consideration of a ‘flat economy’, we’ve also partnered with a local ASA Business Sponsor for the production of some ASA Night Ride Group ‘garb’ so that you can proudly display your affiliation! While this Business Sponsor is pleased to have the work, we are pleased to have his very competitive pricing!
With a benefit for the ASA, and a ASA Business Sponsor, and You…. we have developed a little Economic Stimulus Package for the Sand Community that proves to be a Win-Win-Win for all involved!

 Are you in one of these pics?
 Do you wish you were in one of these pics? [like the last one 8) ]
 Have you been on any one of the twelve Night Ride trips we've had in the last three Off-Seasons?
 Do you plan to attend any of the five night ride trips planned for this summer?
 Do you have an interest in supporting the ASA and one of the ASA’s Business Sponsors?
If you answer Yes to any one of the above questions, then I'm writing to you.
With a commitment to sponsor the calendar, a graphics person lined up, and a ton of photos, all we need is funding and design input!

$500.00 gets us a page in the Calendar.
$150.00 gets us ASA-NRG Whip-Flags
$650.00 in pledges is the minimum amount needed.

The ASA-NRG Whip Flag is a ASA Checkered Flag with the ASA-NRG Logo on it. While supplies last, distribution will occur as follows:
 $50.00~ $74.99 = one flag.
 $75.00 and up = two flags.

If we are able to collect more than the $650.00 noted above, we will proceed with making ASA NRG T-Shirts for similar distribution.

Any confirmed pledges should be paid to the ASA, as a donation to the ASA Store by Apr10,2009. In the process of making the donation, please make a note that it’s for the ASA Night Ride Calendar Page.

Any remaining monies will stay in the pocket of the ASA.
All monies pledged and donated will be publically accounted for in this thread.

The Night Ride Calendar Page will be designed in a private forum on this bbs. Participants will include ASA Board of Directors, BBS Administrators and Pledge Donors. As soon as your donation is made, you will be granted access to the private forum.

So, how about it? Holler up here [or PM, or e-mail me] with your pledge! =D>

The aSa Night Ride Group...

Other then helping the ASA I don't know why... but put me down for $50. (payable by June 1st) I don't want to feel guilty for showing up to a night ride and not having my dues paid. 8-[

I mean thats what it seems like. Great cause though...I'm in.

As for the specifics, please note:
Woodglue wrote:Any confirmed pledges should be paid to the ASA, as a donation to the ASA Store by Apr10,2009. In the process of making the donation, please make a note that it’s for the ASA Night Ride Calendar Page.
At present, we are only proceeding with making ASA-NRG Flags. Moving forward with T-Shirts is pending pledge totals breaking $925.00.

With fingers crossed! =D>

If you have a Tie-Dyed Whip Flag that you can get to Robert or I, we may be able to put the ASA-NRG logo on it.

The ASA BoD have approved a reduction in the price of the calendar this year from $775.00 to $500.

$500.00 gets us a page in the Calendar.
$150.00 gets us ASA-NRG Whip-Flags
$650.00 in pledges is the minimum amount needed.

So, where we needed $925 before, we only need $650 now!

And with have $330 in pledges... we're over 1/2 way there! =D>

With 4 1/2 weeks to go.... [-o<

That is Fricken AWESOME!!!!! If next years page looks half as good as this years page, it'll help the ASA sell even more calenders. Who doesn't want to help the ASA? I mean even if you don't go on night rides. This is just another way somebody is doing something to help the ASA =D>

4 and a half weeks??? I say you can reach your goal of $650 by the end of THIS WEEK!!!!

Whos next? \:D/

With our pledge count still a few bucks short, and due on Apr10, I'm in hopes to return to some good news here!

Thanks Walter.
Go up to the top of the screen and hit the "Donate to the ASA"
At the bottom of that when you give a credit card, there is a comment bit.
Just say that your donation is for the ASA NIGHT RIDE Page.
Thanks,

I may be in the area next weekend. Fast 250R (Jason) wants me to go with him to take the raffle car to AZ. That means we'll have to go by G. My stuff is already there. Jason won't have a seat. Maybe we can put Jason in the short bus for a ride.

:-k Maybe we can go down there Friday night, Stay the night, go for a sun up ride then head to AZ from Glamis. Now if we can find a place to Put Jason. I have an air mattress. I snore WAY too loud to have anybody sleep in the same rig as me. :(

PM me we'll work something out.

Jon, the aSa received your $50.00. Thank you!

Justin, same for you. Thank you! And, thank you for upping your donation to a whopping $150.00. =D> Just as I noted before, if you have a tie died flag, we'll set you up with a one-of-a-kind!

Folks, Justin's bump brings us to within $45.00 of the goal! Today is the deadline, but I'm in hopes that the gap can be closed before this weekend is over.... otherwise, the organizers will have to pony up.

GET YOUR NIGHT RIDE GROUP FLAG!!!

I took ownership of the Night Ride Group Whip-Flags today! They look really nice! I'll begin distributing them per my early intent on the May Night Ride trip (in just three weeks)! If you can't make it on the trip, please PM me and let me know how I can get your flag(s) to you.

Cheers!
-Mike.

Re: ASA Calendar Sponsor - ASA Night Ride Group seeks donations

I'm polling, what does the Night Ride Group want to do this year?
I'd prefer not to sponsor a page in the calendar again. In addition to the problems we had in the past, I think that perhaps advertising beyond the people who know us on this BBS is bringing some people out to the dunes in the summer with expectations that can’t be met in the summer time sands of Glamis.

Rather than not supporting the ASA, I’m thinking that we can continue our support in another way. Just not sure how….
Or, is someone here willing to take on the calendar project and work with ASA’s coordinator?
Anyone have any ideas?

Guys, any thoughts here?
I received the following from ASA's Calendar coordinator:
Hello Mike and the Off Season Night Ride Group:

I hope you and your group will reconsider the ASA Calendar. Because of the mistakes from last year - both John and I have worked together to make sure that the problems of last year do not happen again.

We are beginning our work on the 2011 American Sand Association (ASA) Calendar and want to know if we can count on your help and support again this year as a sponsor. The fee will remain the same $500.00.

Last year we were rushed by our deadline and were unable to send out proofs before the calendar was printed. This year we have set into place a program that will allow us to send a proof of your page as soon as you have submitted your information. Our Deadline will be the 30th of April. You can begin to send in your information now.

The ASA Calendar is a huge fundraiser for the ASA and helps to continue the fight to keep our riding areas open.

We hope we can count on you for your support.

And again, we appreciate your support of the ASA!

Debbie DeRenard

Following is a e-mail reply I sent to Debbie today:
Debbie,

I have posted your e-mail on the bbs for the Night Ride Group to see and comment on. It's here. So far, there hasn't been any input yet.

Personally, I'd prefer not to sponsor a page in the calendar again. And I've stated such to the group. In addition to the problems we had in the past, I think that perhaps advertising beyond the people who know us on our BBS is bringing some people out to the dunes in the summer with expectations that can’t be met in the summer time sands of Glamis.

What is your Yes or No deadline date for the 2011 calendar sponsorship?

Rather than not supporting the ASA, I’m in hopes that we can continue our support in another way. Just not sure how….

We are open to ideas.

-Mike.
Any input from the group?

A reply from Debbie...
I appreciate your reply and understand the situation. If I could know by the 15th of February - that would be fine. I have to have the calendar completed and to the printers by June 1st.

Thank you,
Debbie DeRenard
So, we have just over 3 weeks to be either in or out of the 2011 calendar. Unless I hear here that you guys want to do it, I'll be passing on it.

Thanks for always taking the lead on things Mike. It's great to have the Night Rider's in the aSa calendar and it would be cool to continue on. JMO. But I understand the issue at hand. If it is decided to do it again I will continue to participate. Do we have three weeks to have the money in or until 30 April?

We don't need the money yet, we only need to make a desision if we want to be in the Calandar again. A simple Yes or No is due by Feb15.
Scotty, would you be game for heading up the calandar if everyone agrees to do it again?

Everyone else:
Any new thoughts on how we can assist the ASA without sponsoring the calandar?

Scotty et al,
Several weeks passed in this thread with no real interest expressed in either direction of participating in the calendar again or not.

Debbie's deadline was this past Monday and so I sent the following e-mail to her:
Debbie,
Due to the lack of interest I've seen on the bbs in regards to the NRG sponsoring the 2011 Calendar prior to your deadline of Feb15, we are declining your offer.
Thanks again for checking back with us, perhaps in the future we will reconnect on this.
Good Luck with the 2011 Calendar efforts.
Regards,
-Mike.
So, with that, the NRG will not be part of the 2011 calendar project.
If there is another project for the NRG to benefit the ASA that anyone can think of, I might consider heading it up. Depending what we're talking about.

All ears for ideas guys.
-Mike.
