The 2011 ASA Dune Trip

Post by GlamisSandDuner » Wed Mar 24, 2010 10:41 pm

The 2011 aSa Dune Trip is open to any member of the ASA! If you're not a member, you can sign up for free at: Join the ASA!
This is our annual opportunity for us to all camp together.

Come out to Glamis and circle your rigs on March 25~27, 2011 in Wash 24 with fellow members of the aSa for a weekend of fun with like minded duners!

A series of group rides will take place as well as camp fire fun and just good ole conversation to be had by all!

Most will arrive to the Wash 24 camp on Friday afternoon, while others will already be there by that time.
Most will depart on Sunday night, while others will stay behind for another day or two of fun.

We are family oriented and fun-loving stewards of the dunes.

Not to be too formal, but here are some guidelines...
 Know the aSa's position on nails, metal, glass, etc.
 Know the law about drinking and duning.
On rides:
 Wear the appropriate Riding Gear, BackPack with tools, GPS, Cell Phone, Water and Goggles to name a few.
 Stay in line, passing at speed puts others in danger.
 Each rider is responsible for the rider behind them. If he/she stops, you stop too.
 Everyone is depending on your ride to make it back to camp. Is yours up for it?

We hope to have you join us!

We have plenty of time for folks to step up. I am sure we will get more side by sides.

Hi guys!

Hey please put me down as a MAYBE for this trip... along with two others, friends Chuck and Doug.

Right now I'm on contract up in Salem, Oregon, but it ends in December and by then I hope to have my new business up and running to the point that I can take the time to come down there for the ride. With luck I'll come for a whole week. But in any case, I'm also lining up a new contract in LA that'll start in Jan, so I should be back down there anyway.

I just got back from a weekend trip down to the Oregon Dunes. Chuck and Doug came up from Reno and we rode the Winchester Bay area on Fri and Coos Bay on Saturday. What a great time! Chuck's new favorite area is Coos Bay (this coming from a guy who has ridden Sand Mountain for years), but I said wait til you try Glamis!! He's ready for a trip there. And I'm ready to go back!

Yeah, Sand Mountain in Nevada.

Me, I'm torn... I think I still prefer Sand Mountain to Coos Bay, but I prefer Glamis to Sand Mountain. :)

We both are dying to hit St. Anthony sometime in the not too distant future.

It's hard to beat Glamis

I definitely want to ride St. Anthony's sometime as well, but a trip that far is just not in the cards for now  Hope you get to go, I hear it is awesome.

Hey... when is everybody arriving at Wash 24? I was looking to be there mid-morning on Thursday the 30th and was wondering who to look for. I don't want to be first again after getting stuck last time. :)

Ack, apparently I had an older account (this one) as RobG, and the other account I was using is Rob.G. If it's possible to merge the stats from Rob.G into this one, that'd be great... otherwise I'll stop using that account and just use this one.

I know there will be some of us coming out on Thursday night, don't know if anyone will be out any earlier than that. I think we will have a better feel for it come mid March, until then we will have to play it by ear.

A quick reminder as well, the Thursday before the ASA trip would be the 24th of March since the annual trip is March 25-27th 2011.

I'll get there when I get there, and I'll leave when I leave....that's about as committed as I get...

You can blame it on my job...

Anyway, who knows...

...maybe Heff will invite me to camp with the Playboy Playmates that weekend and give them all topless buggy rides...

I'd miss you guys...a little...

Loren, we will just be happy to see you out there for this trip and we hope that you can make it  . Plus, I would like to check out your new buggy as well.

Oh, BTW Loren. Thanks for keeping all of us safe here in Southern California =D>

I'd miss you guys...a little...

If this were to happen :-k I think we would have to start a poll on who wants to move the trip from Wash 24, to next door to Heff

 well, no one picked up on it, so I'll leave it at that.

I stepped up to a dual sport car that I could run pump gas in because I'm doing more hard pack and long range 'froading.

I'm looking forward to seeing ya'll!

Our plans changed we won't be out until Thur night late.
I think part of Goofyduners klan will be out wed and should be in the middle
of the wash so we should have lots of room.

DEEP PIT BBQ HOLE (formly known as clays hot hole) on Sat.
Bring meat and some fire wood (smaller stuff would be great)
We should be cooking the meat about 3 hrs

Whole Tri-tip -- perfect in 3 hrs
Pork ribs --- over done in 3 hrs
pork butt 2-4 inches thick ---- perfect in 3 hrs

Place meat into Bake in Bag then wrap with about 5 layers of foil
place in hole and 3 hours later the meat you ever tasted
