Hey Justin welcome to the board.
My name is Mike and I ride a '87 250R TRX [mostly at Glamis as I live in So. Calif].
Our buddy Jon [aka Sloppy Duner] rides a Ody, and he can probably talk Shop with you better than I.
Anyways, welcome and thanks for the 'Hello'.

Hey Justin welcome to the board. Whats with you Colorado people? This guy just punched up his 350 to a 420.

Dunes look small and full of trees there. I hope you can get out to Glamis sometime. Like LoB said Post some pix. Glad to see you upgraded your cage before you upgraded your engine. That 250 suspension is gonna hurt worse with a bigger engine. Ehh it’s your back side not mine. Not enough FL peeps around these parts, well at least not enough of them posting.
P.S. if you join the ASA your Odysseys go slightly faster. (Shhh don’t tell anyone)

hey, thanks for the responses....
as far as pics, im not a php noob so im good on that... thanks though
im actually in the process of starting my own phpBB board for colorado pilot and ody owners at http://cops.emotor.be
as far as the cage, well the 77-79 being only the partial cage needed an upgrade anyway as i tend to push things a little far sometimes (it really is a miracle that im not hospitalized, paralized or dead actually - therefore i am immortal
) lol
the motor wont go in without MAJOR modification to the cage anyway so i figured might as well get 2 birds, ect.
right now the only thing im really worried about is the tranny taking the power and some clutch/belt issues, but i think i have those mostly ironed out.
this snowmobile motor should be pretty scary though. i rebuilt the carbs 2 days ago and got some new plugs and it fired right up after sitting for about 2 years... not a bad deal though. an entire Polaris Indy Sport sled for $30!!!!!! not entirely sure what size motor im working with though...
the guy i got it from claims its a 550, but looking around im finding the polaris indy sport with the 340, 400 and 440. i havent done all my research on the sled yet but im working on it.
regardless the motor is pretty insane. while it was still in the sled, i started it, set my idle, then revved and it was at 10K rpm in about half a second even under load! holy hell!
working on the suspension too. i have designed a better control-arm based suspension for the front that im going to start on once the cage and motor is in place, then the rear im working on as well, but its going to be a while.... im thinking something similar to the 350 with the trailing arm/swing arm style suspension, which gives me a few benefits, such as a little longer footprint on the ground, which i ave a feeling im going to need with the new motor, and obvioulsy the rear suspension all together.
its going ot be an interesting project. im just focused on getting it up and running right now. suspension can wait.
as far as places to ride in colorado, well there isnt a whole lot. We have rampart range (http://www.atvaonline.com/Ride/Rampart_CO.asp) with is maintained by the state and has hundreds of miles of trails woven through pike national forest. it is pretty sick.
i would love to make it to the dunes though. looks like a blast.
more to come. for now i just need to get my digital camera unpacked (just moved) and charged up so i can get some pics.

Reminds me of knee-boarding behind a boat! When you water-ski, your legs can absorb the shock of the wake

I've never riden an Ody, is that what it's like?

So, you're always looking for that nice smooth line, right? No jumpin' either eh?

No avoiding jumpin there. Didn't help keep my gearbox together. Luckily I found a cool shop that'll let me make payments to replace my $1500 gearbox

I gotta let you try it next season. Once again you can ask Dune Shredder about it looking weak but it puts a smile on your face.
I AM glad I now have a neck brace for next season.
