1/4/03 ASA Update
The US Fish and Wildlife Service has withdrawn their proposed rule to list the flat-tailed horned lizard as threatened.

Qoute: "We, the Fish and Wildlife Service (Service), have determined that the action of listing the flat-tailed horned lizard (Phrynosoma mcallii) as threatened, pursuant to the Endangered Species Act (Act) of 1973, as amended, is not warranted, and we consequently withdraw our proposed rule."

SDORC, ASA and other organizations fought hard and spent a lot of money with our attorney to prevent this listing which, had it been enacted, would have had severe impact on OHV use at the imperial Sand Dunes.

Congratulations are in order to the organizations and their members and supporters for this major victory!
